Russian Targets in Crimea hit by Ukrainian Missiles
🎦 00:18-03:03⏩
, 03:27-04:53⏩
Jonathan reports that there have been multiple explosions across occupied Crimea, including Sevastopol, Yevpatoria, and Belbek air base. Social media footage shows explosions and smoke rising, with some suggesting ships may have been hit. The Kerch bridge has been closed. Russian sources are reporting a second wave of attacks is expected. Two hours later, reports suggest that missiles are still flying over Crimea. There is speculation that an administrative building in Sevastopol has been hit, and that bomb shelters there are locked. Commentators suggest that Ukrainian Storm Shadow missiles have hit their targets. One commentator, PS01, speculates that a Russian ship (possibly a submarine) may have been destroyed. Jonathan notes that if the reports about Storm Shadows are correct, this would be the first large scale cruise missile attack on Crimea for some time.

Valerii Zaluzhnyi Comments on the Attacks
🎦 03:03-03:27⏩
, 04:53-05:08⏩
Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is reported to be "satisfied" with the results of the missile strikes. His comment that "the sky and the sea are the same colour" has prompted speculation that, in addition to Storm Shadow missiles, Ukrainian Neptune missiles may have also been used in the attack, possibly targeting Russian ships.

Neptune Missiles: Have Ukraine Developed an Air-Launched Version?
🎦 05:08-06:14⏩
Military commentator Trent Zelenko speculates that Ukraine may have developed an air-launched variant of the Neptune missile, which could be fired from platforms such as the Su-24MR. Jonathan points out that this is just speculation, but notes that the Neptune is thought to have been used to destroy the Moskva, the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, early in the war. Since then, the Russian fleet has mainly operated outside the range of the Neptune missile, so there have been few opportunities to observe whether Ukraine has developed this capability.

Jonathan's Analysis - Ukraine can win BUT...
🎦 06:14-09:41⏩
Jonathan argues that the attacks demonstrate that if Ukraine had greater access to longer-range weapons, such as Storm Shadow, Scalp and Taurus cruise missiles, they could inflict far more damage on Russian forces, and that this would significantly shorten the war. He stresses that he is not saying that tanks and other military equipment are not important - just that the provision of longer range missiles is more critical. He argues that Ukraine needs thousands of these missiles, which would allow them to overwhelm Russian defences and repeatedly strike targets like the Kerch Bridge and the Black Sea fleet. If Ukraine was able to sustain this level of damage to Russian logistics and command and control, Jonathan argues, it would pave the way for a successful ground offensive. Jonathan expresses frustration that Western governments are not supplying Ukraine with sufficient quantities of longer range weapons.
