"I think the Russian attack has culminated as I've said for many days now and they will be continuing to make advances in Bakhmut. But that will be the only place they're going to make significant advances, if at all, because they're throwing a kitchen sink at Bakhmut."
Hello Team!
Jonathan provides an update on the Ukraine war frontlines for April 9, 2023. He notes that Russian offensive operations have decreased in rate along the entire frontline, supporting assessments that the overall Russian offensive is approaching culmination. Russian attacks are focused on distracting and dispersing Ukrainian troops in anticipation of counter-offensive operations.

📍 FRONT-LINE UPDATE -🗺️ MAP LEGEND
Bakhmut Update
- Russian forces have likely advanced close to the T0504 highway in southwestern Bakhmut, a significant development that threatens Ukrainian supply lines into the city
- Fighting continues in the east near the railway station and in the north and south of the city
- The tempo of Russian offensive operations has noticeably decreased, with forces struggling to make meaningful advances
- Wagner Group and Russian MoD forces are competing to claim success for territorial gains
Avdiivka Update
- The tempo of Russian offensive operations along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City frontline has reportedly decreased
- Ukrainian forces assess that the Russian offensive on Avdiivka has "choked"
- Russian forces still do not fully control Marinka despite reducing much of the city to rubble
Other Frontline Updates
- Two explosions reported in Feodosia, Crimea, which Russia claims was a Ukrainian Tochka missile shot down by air defences. The ability to reach this far with missiles raises questions about Ukraine's capabilities and range.
- Pro-Russian sources claim a hangar storing HIMARS, M777 howitzers and other equipment was destroyed in Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Oblast. If true, this would significantly impact Ukrainian combat capabilities in the region.
Wrap Up
Jonathan believes the Russian offensive has largely culminated, with the exception of Bakhmut where they continue to throw everything they have at the battle. He notes the interesting developments regarding missile strikes in Crimea and the alleged destruction of Ukrainian equipment in Zaporizhzhia. As always, he encourages viewers to like, subscribe and share the video.
