"To expect them to follow these kind of NATO guidelines but without air superiority and expect them to get halfway to the coast by the end of autumn or whatever is really unrealistic."
Hello Team!
Jonathan introduces the new map he will be using for frontline updates, crediting JR (Jerome) for his significant help in putting it together. The map is a work in progress, combining data from various open sources including pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian mappers. Some visual elements like the double blue lines will be fixed.

📍 FRONT-LINE UPDATE -🗺️ MAP LEGEND
Northeast Axis (Kupyansk to Svatove to Kreminna)
- Footage from the Moscow Volunteer Battalion allegedly shows them assaulting a Ukrainian position near Kreminna, but the video only shows machine guns firing into a forest without clear evidence of the claimed outcome.
- The newly created Russian 25th Combined Arms Army has been deployed along this frontline, consisting of 12,000 mobilized personnel from degraded units with logistical and equipment problems.
Bakhmut Area
- Disagreements between pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian mappers (Suriyak Maps and Andrew Perpetua) about Russian positions and troop movements north of Bakhmut.
- Dynamic fighting reported around Klishchiivka and the railway line, with Ukrainians having some success but Russians counterattacking.
- Ukraine claims to have crossed the railway north of Andriivka.
Southern Front (Velyka Novosilka)
- Small-scale Ukrainian attacks reported near Priyutne.
- Russians conducting localized offensives from Priyutne towards Rivnopil and counterattacking near Urozhaine.
- Russian aviation struck a bridge in Velyka Novosilka, highlighting their ability to use air power while Ukraine lacks air superiority.
Vuhledar/Velyka Novosilka Area
- Heavy fighting reported in Neskuchne and Vuhledar.
- Ukrainians made some gains north of Vuhledar but were pushed back towards Neskuchne again according to Andrew Perpetua.
- Question remains if Ukrainians have enough strength to push Russians back or if this area will remain a grinding stalemate without significant air support.
Kherson Area
The commander of the Russian 205th Motorized Rifle Brigade was reportedly removed after complaints from milbloggers about the unit's heavy losses and poor leadership. This rare case suggests nationalist outrage can still pressure Russian military command post-Wagner rebellion, though overall milblogger criticism seems diminished.

Wrap Up
Jonathan notes the video was heavy on discussion of the new map. He reiterates his thanks to JR for the immense help. Jonathan also mentions that like himself, the Combat Veteran Reacts channel has been targeted by Russian trolls operating through Indian entities. He sees this as part of the broader information war and hopes to discuss it further with Ukraine: The Latest podcast.
