📍 FRONT-LINE UPDATE -🗺️ MAP LEGEND
Russian MOD Recruiting Convicts
The Russian Ministry of Defence is reportedly recruiting convicts, mimicking the Wagner Group's use of them as cannon fodder, despite their limited combat effectiveness. This coincides with intensifying criticism of Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin. The MOD appears to be taking over from Wagner in Bakhmut, using similar tactics.

Kupyansk to Kreminna Front
- Not much news from this front, with limited reporting from sources like Rybar
- The ISW previously said Russian forces had regained the initiative, but war strategist B.A. Friedman disagrees, arguing that Ukrainians are staying on the defensive while waiting for better gear to arrive
- Shelling locations reported by the Ukrainian General Staff show heavy shelling in most areas, but the 10-day shelling map compiled by Def Mon shows it's relatively quiet from Kreminna/Lysychansk up to Svatove
- Colonel Cherevaty of the Ukrainian forces said the Russians carried out a record number of artillery strikes west of Kreminna in the last week, but this is not reflected in the shelling data
Bakhmut
- Prigozhin posted an expletive-filled rant emphasising that Wagner is nowhere near completing the encirclement of Bakhmut due to continued Ukrainian defence
- Geolocated footage shows Russian forces have advanced to within 1 km southeast of Ivanivske
- Ukrainian reinforcements, including battle-hardened brigades like the 80th Air Assault, have arrived in Bakhmut over the past week
- Ukrainians have launched small offensives around Bakhmut with positive outcomes
- Russians were pushed back south and southwest of Ivanivske, at least 3 km away from the T0504 road
- Fighting continues in Fedorivka, Paraskoviivka, and Bakhmut itself
Avdiivka and Marinka
- Repelled attacks reported in Kamianka and Severne near Avdiivka, but the area seems to have calmed down in recent days
- In Marinka, Russians claim gains in the north and south, retaking School No. 2 and a frozen food factory, but these claims are not confirmed by all sources
Vuhledar
- Conflicting reports on the situation in Vuhledar, with some claiming fierce fighting southeast of the town and others saying there are definitely no assaults
- Aerial footage shows the dacha area southeast of Vuhledar has been completely levelled by artillery fire
Southern Front and Crimea
- Russian forces are preparing for actions in all directions along the southern axis while attempting to create the impression they are closing in on Ukrainian positions
- Russia is deploying Rosgvardia in occupied Kherson to introduce stricter regimes for both the public and military, in response to misbehaving soldiers and increasing local resistance
- Geolocated evidence shows trenches continue to be built in the Chaplynka and Armiansk area on the way into Crimea, strengthening Russian defences
Wrap up
Jonathan concludes the update by noting the continued building of Russian defences in Crimea, which will likely cause delays for any potential Ukrainian attempts to retake the peninsula. He thanks viewers for watching and encourages them to like, subscribe, and share the video.
