"This kind of sums up some of the old school Russian ways of doing things. Does it work well? You certainly have fear working well in these units but do you have good camaraderie and wanting to fight for your commander? Possibly not so much."
Hello Team!
Jonathan introduces this as an Ukraine war update extra video providing additional tidbits and nuggets of information to give a greater understanding of the war in Ukraine. He has already done a mapping update so a frontline update is less important today.

Russian brigade commander humiliates soldiers
- Footage shows a Russian brigade commander forcing soldiers to undress and perform humiliating actions like plucking grass
- The soldiers were beaten with batons and stripped naked
- This took place at a tank division near Moscow
- People discussing the video are furious at the commander's actions, saying there will be a mutiny if it continues as there is a limit to what people will tolerate
- Jonathan comments this sums up some old school Russian military practices that use fear and intimidation over building camaraderie and respect
Russian who fled to Georgia to avoid mobilisation hates Georgians
- A Russian man who moved to Georgia to avoid mobilisation expressed hatred towards Georgians, calling them "slaves of Russia"
- He claims there are so many Russians in Georgia now they could easily take over the country again
- There is history of animosity between Russians and Georgians due to the 2008 war
- Many Russians fled to Georgia to avoid the war but it doesn't mean they are against it, just that they personally don't want to fight
- Jonathan points out the irony and suggests if the man hates Georgians so much he should move back to Russia
Captured Russian soldier shares poor living conditions back home
- A captured Russian soldier says back home in Russia he has no running water, indoor toilets or gas despite Russia being a major gas exporter
- He also received no salary while serving in the army
- Russia has huge inequalities across the nation with wealth concentrated amongst oligarchs while much of the population lives in poverty, especially outside major cities
- Part of the reason for the war is to prevent Russians seeing Ukraine embrace democracy and capitalism and achieve a higher standard of living which could make them envious for change
Satellite images show Ukraine's need for long-range strike capabilities
- Satellite images of Luhansk airport show it being used as a base for Russian helicopters to conduct operations in Donetsk and Luhansk
- The airport hosts Ka-52, Mi-8, Mi-28 and Mi-24 helicopters and is heavily guarded by air defences
- The helicopters are spread out to mitigate against strikes but this makes it difficult for Ukraine to effectively disable them without long-range precision munitions
- Storm Shadow missiles would be too expensive to use against this target
- The frequent flights of helicopters taking off and landing unharmed shows a need for enhanced Ukrainian air defences to protect their troops
Fox and dog videos
To end on a positive note, Jonathan shares some videos of foxes and dogs:
- A fox is shown sniffing and licking someone's head, showing how animals like foxes evolved to be domesticated into dogs
- Another video shows a very tame fox helping itself to food and drink at a camp
- The final video shows a dog excitedly greeting its owner/comrade who has returned from the war, with the dog unable to contain its joy
Wrap up
Jonathan thanks viewers for watching and for their continued support. He hopes to get more videos out soon depending on resolving some technical issues with his charger.
