Russian Losses and Equipment
The Ukrainian General Staff reports 340 Russian troops killed in action, the lowest in some time, but heavy equipment losses continue, including:
- 23 Armoured Personnel Vehicles (APVs)
- 2 tanks (complaints Russians are running low)
- 28 vehicles (fuel tanks, logistics vehicles)
- 15 artillery pieces
- 1 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS)
- 20 drones
- 3 anti-aircraft warfare systems
Both sides have lost high-value equipment like radar components, air defense systems (S-300, Tunguska), and a Ukrainian speedboat was targeted. Jonathan analyzes these losses and their implications.

Captured Russian Helicopter
A Russian Mi-8 helicopter was captured by Ukraine in a special operation. The Russian story claims it got lost and landed at Poltava airfield by mistake due to navigation errors. However, Ukrainian intelligence (HUR) states they lured the helicopter, which was transporting Su-27 and Su-30SM fighter jet parts. The pilot surrendered as part of the operation, with his family taken to safety in advance, while the crew was unaware and shot after landing. This is a significant intelligence win for Ukraine.

Crimean Attacks and Special Operation
After the earlier strike on a Russian S-400 air defense system in Crimea, Ukraine conducted further operations on the peninsula:
- 3 Russian S-300 launchers destroyed/damaged in Kherson, weakening air defenses
- Ukrainian warships engaged a Russian Su-30 fighter jet near Snake Island, damaging it with a missile
- Ukrainian special forces conducted a raid on Cape Tarkhankut in Crimea, completing objectives with no losses
The attacks targeted Russian radar installations and air defenses. This is highly significant, fulfilling Budanov's earlier claim that Ukrainian troops would be in Crimea by end of summer. It shapes the battlefield for further operations and drone/missile strikes.

Wagner Group and Prigozhin's Death
Jonathan analyzes the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner Group, in a plane crash. While initially skeptical that Putin was responsible, he now believes the FSB carried it out with Putin's approval. Key points:
- Wagner was already weakened after Bakhmut and the failed mutiny, with most heavy weapons returned
- Killing Prigozhin, Dmitry Utkin, and their head of security effectively destroys Wagner's leadership
- Other Russian private military companies like Redut can now replace Wagner in Africa and elsewhere
Theories on the crash include an air defense missile strike or an FSB bomb on the plane. Prigozhin may have kept compromising information on the regime which could now be released posthumously.
