📍 FRONT-LINE UPDATE -🗺️ MAP LEGEND
Belgorod and Novaya Tavolzhanka
- Not a lot of detail coming out about the situation in Novaya Tavolzhanka, northeast of Kharkiv
- Some video showed Russian rebels in Belgorod rolling with main battle tanks through the area
- The Russian air force has apparently "gone full AWOL"
- The ISW reports Russian sources claim the pro-Ukrainian forces are gone from Novaya Tavolzhanka as of yesterday, with footage showing Russian forces in control
- A senior Russian officer, Colonel Stesev, was reportedly killed in action in the area on the night of June 4-5
Kupyansk to Svatove to Kreminna Front
- Russians have been shelling an ammonia pipeline in the Kupyansk area, with reports of leaks that could cause serious ecological issues
- Very limited news about what is happening along this front line, just the usual kind of back-and-forth around Kreminna and Berestove
- Some claims about Ukrainians making limited gains around Stelmakhivka near Svatove, but no confirmation yet
Bakhmut Area
- Significant gains reported for Ukrainians in the northern Bakhmut area
- Fierce battles ongoing for Berkhivka reservoir area and Zaliznyanske
- Claims Ukrainians are attacking Berkhivka from the west, which would mean they control more territory than some maps show
- Rebar, a pro-Russian source, admits Ukrainian forces are biting into Russian defenses and counter-attacking the flanks of Bakhmut
- Ukrainians putting pressure on Russians in southwestern outskirts of Bakhmut city itself
- South of Bakhmut, Ukrainians have taken an important part of the forest strip north of Klishchiivka, threatening a key Russian supply route
Avdiivka Front
- Fighting reported in the villages of Opytne and Vodyane near Avdiivka
- Ukrainian forces said to be pushing into both villages
- 12 Russian assaults were repelled by Ukrainians in the Marinka area
- Chechen forces that recently replaced Russian "Stormz" assault elements in Marinka have lost enthusiasm after encountering heavy Ukrainian resistance
Southern Fronts
- Not much change to report in Zaporizhzhia and southern Donetsk regions
- Back-and-forth claims around villages like Novodarivka, Neskuchne, Novodonets'ke
- Some possible Ukrainian activity south of Orikhiv and near Mala Tokmachka
- A lot of news focused on the Kakhovka dam disaster in Kherson, which is a massive ecological issue
- The flooding will prevent Ukrainians from attempting any counterattacks across the Dnipro River for a couple weeks
- This may allow Russia to redeploy some forces from Kherson to Zaporizhzhia front
Wrap Up
Jonathan notes that as the Ukrainian counteroffensive unfolds, information will be limited and spun by both sides. The fog of war means accuracy is difficult. He reminds viewers to be careful about drawing conclusions and thanks them for watching.
