"Prisoners are like cannon fodder. They don't count as human beings."
Hello Team!
Jonathan has so much extra content to share to give a greater understanding of the war in Ukraine. He won't be able to fit it all into this video but will carry on while the iron is hot.

Snipers in Ukraine
- A fascinating article in Euromaidan Press about snipers in Ukraine, focusing on a theology professor who became a sniper
- Snipers are the second biggest cause of fatalities in the war after artillery, representing 10% of troop losses
- The professor's group has purchased 178 sniper rifles and supports snipers on the frontlines
- Snipers are used to stop Russian attacks when artillery or machine guns are insufficient
- Sniper groups consist of 6-10 people using various caliber rifles (e.g. 0.50 BMG, 0.375) to strike targets up to 3km away
- Snipers work closely with assault infantry, drones, sappers and grenade launchers to suppress Russian fire
- Sniper groups conduct raids in Russian-controlled territories to destroy bridges and logistics
- Snipers require 1-2 days of preparation to study the landscape, wind conditions etc. before making long-range shots
Cluster Munitions in Ukraine
- Referencing Perun's video on how Ukraine will use cluster munitions
- Cluster munitions may replace the limited supply of precision-guided munitions for certain targets
- While not as precise, cluster munitions can still be effective against mass targets
- The spread of bomblets increases the chance of hits even with "misses"
- Cluster munitions have a failure rate of a few percent, leaving behind unexploded ordnance
- However, most of the frontlines in Ukraine will need to be demined anyway due to the heavy use of mines by both sides
Convicts Recruited by Russia
- Russian soldiers say the Ministry of Defence is leaving bodies of dead convicts in Ukraine to avoid paying compensation to relatives
- Many convicts were recruited by the Wagner Group or into "Storm Z" penal battalions with promises of money and release
- Relatives struggle to get any information on the fate of recruited convicts who are treated as "ghost soldiers"
- Scammers are targeting desperate relatives, offering information in exchange for money
- An estimated 19-21,000 convicts have been recruited, most of whom have died due to lack of training and being used as "cannon fodder"
- Convicts are often unpaid and completely expendable, with commanders not bothering to recover bodies
- The system for recording personnel losses has broken down, leaving relatives to search for any information
Wrap up
Jonathan will continue with the sniper article tomorrow as he has much more content to cover. He's trying to balance keeping up with events on the battlefield with having his own life. He thanks his partner for putting up with his busy schedule and expresses gratitude to his supporters on Buy Me a Coffee and channel members. He plans to do a poll to gauge opinions on how the war is going for Ukraine compared to a previous poll.
