"Sometimes we need a reminder of what war on civilians looks like."
Hello Team!
Jonathan is on holiday so videos are a bit different. He provides the Ukrainian general staff figures for Russian losses, with the usual caveats that they give an indication of what's taking place even if not 100% accurate. Significant losses reported, especially in tanks, APVs, artillery, and special equipment.

🪦 DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
- These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
- These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
Evidence of High Russian Losses
Several pieces of evidence support the high Russian loss figures:
- Video from Andrew Perpetua surveying footage shows a very bad day for Russia in terms of equipment losses compared to Ukraine
- Reports of Russia burning/burying dead soldiers in occupied territories to hide losses
- Video from Russian serviceman describing difficult situation and high casualties on front line
- Account of Russian soldiers forced to crawl through minefields by commanders, taking 80% casualties
Russian Equipment Losses
- Footage of a Russian Grad multiple launch rocket system having a catastrophic explosion with incredible shockwave
- The Russian landing ship Olengorsky gurniak hit by Ukrainian naval drone is in drydock with significant damage
- A Russian tanker providing oil to Syria was also hit and likely out of commission
Fires and Explosions in Russia
- Large fire at a warehouse in Odintsovo, Moscow region, possibly from a missed Ukrainian drone interception
- Electrical substation fire in Kaluga blamed on "lightning" but part of a pattern of increasing fires across Russia
- Explosions reported in Moscow with air defences active, possibly from Ukrainian drones
Russian Strikes on Ukrainian Civilians
- Air alerts active in Ukraine as Russians attack
- Missile fragments fell on a children's hospital in Kyiv's Obolon district
- Strikes also in Vinnytsia and Khmelnytskyi
- Russia fired an Iskander missile into Zaporizhzhia city centre in the evening with many civilians on the streets
- Double tap strike in Popovka hitting the same location 40 min apart to target emergency services
- Terrifying footage and sounds of the strikes on civilian areas
Other News
- Pro-Ukrainian Twitter account @MrParrot suspended after mass reporting by pro-Russian accounts, raising concerns about Twitter's content moderation
- Yandex (Russian Google) co-founder Arkady Volosh denounced Russia's "barbaric invasion" of Ukraine
- Russian propagandist Ischenko made genocidal arguments that Ukraine is just "anti-Russian" part of Russia that must be "swallowed whole" or "forcibly split up"
