"The ISW says that the Ukrainian army has liberated the same amount of territory in five weeks that the Russian army has captured over six months"
Hello Team!
Jonathan provides an update on the Ukraine war frontlines for July 11, 2023. His voice is a bit echoey as he is recording from his kitchen while an electrician is working. It's a "game of two halves" with Russian gains in the north around Svatove, Kreminna, and south of Bakhmut, while Ukrainians are making progress in Bakhmut itself and further south.

📍 FRONT-LINE UPDATE -🗺️ MAP LEGEND
Northern frontline - Russian gains
- The ISW says Ukraine has liberated as much territory in 5 weeks as Russia captured in 6 months, though recent days show some Russian gains
- Geolocated footage shows fighting between Kuzmivka and Novoselivske, with Russians pushing Ukrainians back
- Russians have made gains west of Kreminna, extending south past Kolomychykha almost to Zvanivka
- These gains put a "spanner in the works" for the Ukrainian counteroffensive, forcing them to relocate resources
Bakhmut area - Ukrainian gains
- Ukrainians are making gains north of Bakhmut around Yahidne and Berkhivka
- South of Bakhmut, Ukrainians are advancing on Klishchiivka and have established fire control over Bakhmut itself
- Russian forces, including Kadyrovites, have suffered heavy losses trying to hold Ukrainian advances around Bakhmut
- Ukrainians are pressuring Russian positions in Ozaryanivka from the north and southeast
Southern frontline - Robotyne
- Heavy fighting is occurring on both flanks of Robotyne
- Geolocated footage from 5 days ago shows Ukrainians penetrating first line of Russian trenches despite some vehicle losses
- Analysts believe Ukrainians have likely advanced further since then based on the delayed release of footage showing losses
- Capturing Russian trench lines around Robotyne would be very significant
Other frontline updates
- Fighting continues around Orikhiv, Pyatykhatky and Zherebyanky but without significant changes
- Russians are heavily shelling Ukrainian positions and settlements west of the Dnipro River in Kherson and Mykolaiv Oblasts
- Russians are using drones to hit targets near the Antonivsky Bridge despite Ukrainian electronic warfare
NATO Summit News
- Germany and Norway pledged significant new military aid packages for Ukraine
- France promised SCALP cruise missiles, equivalent to the British Storm Shadow missiles Ukraine has been using to great effect
- More news is expected to come out of the ongoing NATO summit in Vilnius
