- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
Russian Losses
The latest reported Russian losses are significant, with 610 personnel, 9 tanks, 21 APVs, 37 artillery pieces, 5 MLRS, 1 anti-aircraft system, 22 drones, 8 cruise missiles, 27 vehicles/fuel tanks, and 7 pieces of special equipment. Jonathan believes these numbers are believable given the heavy activity on the front lines. He notes that these daily losses are unsustainable for Russia and must be depleting their reserves. Video evidence from Andrew Perpetua supports these loss claims, showing a 3-5:1 ratio of Russian to Ukrainian equipment losses.

Distant Strikes
- On the night of Sept 6-7, Russia attacked Sumi and Odessa regions with Shahed drones. Out of 33 launched, Ukrainian air defenses destroyed 25.
- The port infrastructure in Ismail on the Danube River was damaged by a Russian drone attack. These attacks are impacting Ukraine's ability to export grain.
- There was an explosion at a warehouse in Moscow, another "Russian-owned fire" in the heart of Russia.
- Explosions were reported in occupied Mariupol and Manhush, likely from Ukrainian drone or Storm Shadow missile strikes, as they are out of HIMARS range.
Kostiantynivka Attack
A Russian missile strike on a shopping center in Kostiantynivka killed at least 17 and injured 34. While Russia claims it was a Ukrainian HARM missile that locked onto a phone store, evidence suggests it was likely a Russian Smerch rocket based on the location of a known Russian rocket artillery unit to the southeast, the missile's trajectory, and the nature of the attack aligning with Russian strike doctrine and history of targeting civilian infrastructure. The strike caused horrific injuries and scenes of carnage in the marketplace.
