Other news
- UK intelligence update: Over the last two months, Russia has likely started forming major new formations like the 25th Combined Arms Army to add depth to its ground forces. However, without a major new mobilization wave, Russia is unlikely to find enough troops to resource even one new army. The Russian army is unlikely to get back to international standards for 20 years.
- Donald Trump has been indicted on four counts related to the January 6th Capitol attack. This could impact the US presidential race and continued US support for Ukraine.
- Russian tourists continue to be harassed by Georgian protesters, in this case eggs were thrown at buses transporting Russian tourists from a cruise ship in Batumi, Georgia.
Wrap up
Jonathan ends by pondering whether the harassment of Russian tourists will entrench them further in a pro-Russian position through the backfire effect, or if it will lead to some realization that the world sees Russia's actions as wrong, even if the tourists themselves believe Russia is right. He suggests the harassment may make the tourists realize there are fewer welcoming places they can vacation now, and that Russia's place in the global community is more precarious than it was two years ago.
