"Either this has happened or it hasn't happened, right? Either, you know, this is inaccurate reporting or it's accurate reporting, okay? Now, if it's inaccurate reporting, why are the Russian military bloggers responding so painfully to this?"
Hello Team!
Jonathan starts the video by noting the downtick in reported Russian losses from Ukraine, possibly due to it being Sunday figures. He questions whether this is a result of decreased frontline activity or just the nature of reporting on Sundays.

🪦 DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
- These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
- These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
Russian losses in Vuhledar
- Politico reports on the decimation of Russia's 155th Naval Infantry Brigade near Vuhledar, with an estimated 5,000 soldiers killed, wounded or taken prisoner
- Russian military bloggers and former commander Igor Girkin have reacted strongly, calling Russian generals "morons" and the defeat "the end of the offensive on the entire Donetsk front"
- Jonathan argues this supports the accuracy of Ukrainian figures, challenging pro-Russian voices to provide evidence to the contrary
Druskivka hit overnight
- Druskivka, a town behind Bakhmut, was hit by Russian forces overnight
- Photos show damaged buildings, possibly a medical center
- Jonathan notes Russia's lack of precision compared to HIMARS, relying on inaccurate S-300s
Sanctions and frozen assets
- Swiss bank Credit Suisse has frozen $19 billion in Russian assets, a significant increase from the previously reported $8.2 billion
- Much of this money is from sanctioned individuals or the Russian state, effectively frozen even if not officially seized
Kyiv's resilience against attacks
- Despite the recent massive missile attack, Kyiv is reporting no planned power cuts for the second day in a row
- Jonathan suggests Ukraine may be adapting to quickly repair damage, with the attacks becoming more of an annoyance than a crippling blow
- He notes the increasing time between attacks and Russia's use of less accurate S-300s over cruise missiles
Prigozhin and Wagner sidelined
- The Kremlin has reportedly banned mention of Prigozhin and Wagner on Russian propaganda TV channels
- This points to an internal power struggle, with the Russian government seeking to minimize Wagner's success and boost the image of the regular army
- Wagner is no longer recruiting from prisons, possibly due to government restrictions
Warnings of "great events" on Feb 24
- Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba has warned of "great events" that "Russia will remember" on February 24, the anniversary of the invasion
- He suggests there will be important political signals, sanctions, weapons decisions, and symbols of unity
- Jonathan questions whether this is a genuine warning or a psyop to unnerve Russia
The underwhelming Russian offensive
Jonathan expresses his uncertainty about the nature of the current Russian offensive, noting the seemingly underwhelming efforts in various directions. He questions whether this is truly the anticipated offensive or a prelude, and what additional forces Russia could bring to bear that would significantly change the situation.

- Pakistan has sent 10,000 MLRS Grad missiles to Ukraine via Poland and Germany, paid for by Western states, likely motivated by Pakistan's economic troubles rather than moral support
- A shipload of U.S. Bradleys has arrived in Germany en route to Ukraine
- Denmark has transferred all its Caesar self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine
- Ukrainian tankers have begun training on M1 Abrams tanks, though the tanks provided will not have depleted uranium armor to prevent the technology from falling into Russian hands
