🪦 DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
- These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
- These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.

Zero armoured personnel vehicles were lost. 24 artillery systems, 40 vehicles and fuel tanks, and 2 pieces of special equipment were lost. Jonathan suggests the weather may be responsible for the reduction in losses.

Increase in Religious Faith Among Ukrainians
🎦 11:07-13:59⏩
Jonathan discusses a survey by the Razumkov Center, which found that almost a third of Ukrainians say their religious faith has grown since the war began. He explains this phenomenon by drawing on psychological research that shows higher levels of religious belief in war-torn and violent countries, and lower levels in safe countries. He attributes this to the functional role of religion in providing a sense of hope and security in times of existential threat. Jonathan concludes that from a psychological point of view, belief in God is very functional during times of war. He emphasizes that he is not commenting on the truth of God, but rather on the psychological function of belief.

Economic Strain on Russia
🎦 17:02-18:07⏩
Jonathan disagrees with the assessment of two guests from a previous livestream who believe that a Russian economic collapse is not fundamental to the outcome of the war. Jonathan argues that if Russia is less able to pay for the war due to dwindling reserves, struggling hydrocarbon sales, and tanking industries, it will be much more difficult for them to prosecute the war. He believes that success on the battlefield is contingent upon Russia's internal collapse.
