🪦 DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
- These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
- These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
Russian Losses
- Ukrainian General Staff figures for 11th August: 510 killed, lowest equipment losses for some time (5 tanks, 6 APVs, 10 artillery systems)
- Oryx figures as of 11th August: 2 Leopard 2A4s destroyed, 4 damaged; 2 Leopard 2A6s destroyed, 5 damaged, 2 damaged and abandoned
- Since start of war, Ukraine has captured over 800 units of Russian heavy equipment including 300 tanks according to Ukrainian colonel
Russian Officer Flees to Lithuania
Russian lieutenant Ivan Korolev illegally crossed into Lithuania and asked for political asylum. Will be interesting to see what information comes out of this.

Suboptimal Day for Russian Armour
- Significant losses for Russian armour in Zaitseve and Klishchiivka area near Bakhmut
- 4 Russian tanks taken out including a modern T-90M using first-person view drones
- Ukraine moving electronic warfare jammers to the south to dominate Russian radio and drone links
- Ukrainian first-person view drones now regularly reaching 10km behind Russian front lines
Cluster Munitions Usage
According to a translated Russian communique, US and Turkish cluster munitions are now every 5th Ukrainian artillery round impacting Russian forces.

Russian Missile Strikes
- Russians launched 4 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles at Ukrainian cities. 1 hit a house in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast killing an 8-year-old boy.
- Missiles were aimed at airfield to target Ukrainian pilots preparing to train on F-16s but did not reach target
- Zaporizhzhia had 3 drone attacks last night, a relatively quiet night
- Moscow air defences shot down a drone over the Moskva River during a rowing event
- 20 Ukrainian drones attacked occupied Crimea overnight
Mines Found in Small Area

Ukrainians Allegedly Dressed as Russian Soldiers
Russian milblogger claims a Ukrainian subversive group of up to 30 people dressed in Russian uniforms raided a Russian convoy near Krakivka. If true, this would be considered a war crime. Pinch of salt required with this claim.

YouTube Removes Scott Ritter's Channel
- YouTube removed the channel of Scott Ritter, a former US intelligence officer who has served time for paedophilia and is an employee of Russian propaganda channel RT
- Jonathan has previously debunked many of Ritter's incorrect claims and predictions about the war
- Reflects on how he himself has avoided making too many speculative claims that turned out to be wrong
- Acknowledges free speech concerns but feels willful disinformation from Russian state actors is still problematic
