- Oryx's visually confirmed losses show 21 Ukrainian losses (including 5 tanks) and 55 Russian losses (2:1 ratio in Ukraine's favour) with heavy losses in APVs
- Andrew Perpetua's stats show more Ukrainian losses than Russian for the day
Hits and Losses
- Video of a Russian ISR post being destroyed by a GMLRS/HIMARS rocket
- Incredible drone footage of a drone flying through a forest into a dugout before exploding, showing nowhere is safe
- Rumours of a Russian fighter jet lost near Kursk Airport
- Occupier's car blown up in Dzhankoy, northern Crimea, possibly by partisans
Distant Strikes
Overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force destroyed:
- 11 out of 12 Kalibr cruise missiles
- All 19 Shahed drones
- 2 P800 Onyx anti-ship missiles
A hotel in Odesa was struck by a Russian missile. Explosions were reported in many places:
- Tokmak
- Kaluga Air Base near Kursk (killing Russian personnel)
- Balaklava and Sevastopol in Crimea
- Simferopol in Crimea
- Tula and Moscow regions
- Luhansk (a former Ukrainian defence factory)
Other News
- Reports that Ukraine is deploying 10,000 additional troops to the Robotyne axis, pulling from other fronts to focus on one axis of advance
- Russian claims that Yevgeny Prigozhin was beaten by a far-right Ukrainian during a prison walk (unverified)
- Russia has placed barriers, nets and barges at the entrance to Sevastopol harbour to counter Ukrainian naval drones
- Russian occupation forces are reportedly preparing mobilization in southern Ukraine, which could cause some to become partisans
ISW Analysis on the Frontline
The ISW reports a very dynamic situation in the ongoing Ukrainian counter-offensive near Orikhiv in western Zaporizhzhia. Key points:
- Ukrainian forces are attacking along 3 directions within the Orikhiv salient
- They broke into Verbove on Sept 22 and continue attacking
- Attacking north of Verbove could isolate Russia's 56th Airborne Regiment
- Encirclement of the 56th is unlikely but it could be isolated if it remains in current positions
- Russian sources express panic at prospect of Ukrainian advances
The ISW urges epistemic humility given the contradictory, panicky Russian reports and the developing situation. This area has the best Ukrainian and Russian forces and the heaviest defences.
