🪦 DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
- These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
- These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
Russian Losses and Equipment
- Russian personnel and tank losses have decreased compared to previous days, possibly due to less activity on the front lines after the Ukrainians secured settlements like Andreevka and Klishchevka.
- The high number of artillery systems lost by Russia suggests they started with a phenomenal amount of artillery.
- Visual confirmation of losses by Andrew Perpetua shows a high number of civilian vehicles lost on both sides.
- Analysis suggests Russia is running out of T-80 and T-90M tanks, with 40-60% of the T-90M fleet lost.
Russian Commander Killed and Partisan Activity
- Lieutenant Colonel Vasilij Popov, commander of the Russian 247th Guards Air Assault Regiment, was killed in Ukraine. He is the second commanding officer of the regiment killed since the invasion began.
- Partisans blew up two Russian occupier trucks in Henichesk, showing active partisan activity in occupied territories.
Russian Admission of Ukrainian Tactics and Struggles
A top-level Russian official, MP Guralev, admitted in a Telegram post that:
- Ukrainians have changed tactics, using artillery to inflict damage on Russian strong points and assault groups.
- Ukrainians are effectively clearing Russian minefields.
- Russian artillery has improved counter-battery fire but is still ineffective as Ukrainian artillery is out of range.
- Russian troops are being forced to retreat in some places, losing up to 10km of territory.
- Ukrainian drones are endless and wisely used.
- False reporting is leading to poor decisions at many levels in the Russian military.
Condition of Ramzan Kadyrov
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is reportedly in critical condition, possibly in a coma. If true, his absence could create a power vacuum in Chechnya that might lead to anti-Russian sentiment coming to the fore.

Ukrainian Air Force Success and Russian Targeting Issues
- The Ukrainian Air Force has been successful by constantly changing airfields and operating within the Russian targeting cycle.
- Russia has struggled with timely and accurate targeting, especially against mobile targets, reflecting an inability to conduct complex operations.
- Structural issues, including limitations in Russian ISR operations, have prevented their air force from having a decisive effect.
- Russian commanders have made questionable targeting decisions, and there are issues with accurate battle damage assessments.
Other News
- Several fires broke out in Russia, including a shopping mall in St. Petersburg, a warehouse in Rostov, and a factory in Samara.
- A Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missile worth $2.6 million was lost in August due to a malfunction, but the military reported successful destruction of all targets.
- Disgraced Russian General Surovikin has been sent to Algeria, presumably to work with Wagner troops. Concerns were raised about his safety.
- Armed private security forces seized the territory of the Dulisma oil company in Russia's Irkutsk region, showcasing the aggressive tactics used in business disputes in the country.
