"Personally, I think Prigozhin's going to have an ICC arrest warrant on his noggin soon enough. If he doesn't, he should do because, you know, Putin, it would be great."
Hello Team!
Jonathan starts the video with the usual rundown of Ukrainian reported Russian losses for the previous day:
- 520 liquidated personnel (consistent with the past week)
- 4 tanks, 10 APCs (an uptick), 10 artillery pieces, 3 MLRS (a significant number)
- Targeting of Russian artillery by Ukrainians in preparation for counter-offensive
- 1 anti-aircraft system, 1 aircraft (Su-25 shot down over eastern Ukraine)
- 12 vehicles/fuel tanks, 2 special equipment (e.g. radar, electronic warfare systems)
🪦 DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
- These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
- These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
POWs and Bakhmut
- Reports of hundreds of Russian POWs captured, particularly in Bakhmut, despite Russians taking territory there
- Russian regular forces now supporting Wagner across Bakhmut, attacking in larger groups of 20-40
- Unprecedented tough fighting in Bakhmut but Ukrainians taking record numbers of prisoners (around 400)
- More POW videos emerging over the past few days
Strikes and Shelling
- Ukrainian FPV drones targeting electronic warfare systems in Belgorod, Russia
- Fire reported at tank training ground in Kazan, Tatarstan after explosion; turned into out of control grass fire
- HIMARS active in Rubizhne (near Sievierodonetsk), Tokmak, Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhia
- Russians hit Sloviansk badly a couple days ago; 11 dead, 22 injured, 4 still missing in residential areas
- 12 Russian S-300 surface-to-air missiles (in inaccurate secondary ground mode) struck small settlement of Snihurivka, Kherson oblast
Easter Attacks
Russians destroyed a church in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region during Orthodox Easter. No casualties as church was empty. Warehouse and surrounding buildings also damaged in the settlement.

Russian Pilots
A Ukrainian aviation commander shared that he still talks to Russian pilot acquaintances who:
- Don't want to fly missions, understand bombing civilians is wrong
- Use excuse of "just following orders" when asked to bomb civilian areas instead of military targets
- Respond they will "get in trouble" for refusing orders
- Try to find excuses to get out of service or leave Russia if they can
Military Aid
- Ukraine rebuilding captured Russian T-62 tanks with cranes for towing/repair at a cost of $46K via crowdfunding
- 100+ Leopard 1A5 tanks from Denmark via Germany nearing readiness to send to Ukraine; useful to counter older Russian tanks
- Large amounts of equipment being sent to Ukraine (e.g. 30 Cobra II MRAPs from Turkey, 100+ M109L self-propelled howitzers from Italy)
- Concerns over having enough ammunition to supply all the new artillery
- Continued debate over ATACMs missiles - US not providing due to low inventory until PRSM successor is in production; Ukraine could order and wait or swap production slots with other countries
Geopolitics
- Fears for Alexei Navalny as his health critically deteriorates in prison, possibly from slow poisoning; group of Russian lawmakers/doctors petition for him to get better care
- Former Georgian President Saakashvili also near death in hospital from apparent poisoning; has requested transfer to Poland
- Hungary bans import of grain from Ukraine until June 30 after complaints from local farmers about cheaper Ukrainian goods; Poland and Slovakia implement similar restrictions
Wagner Chief Calls for End to War
- Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of Wagner mercenary group, publicly urged Putin to end the war, claiming Russia achieved its aims and should defend existing gains
- Warned Russian people may seek a scapegoat for failures as war drags on, potentially leading to "revolutionary fervor"
- Claimed Russia destroyed much of Ukraine's active male population and caused many to flee
- First time a senior Putin ally directly involved in fighting has called for ending the war
- Prigozhin's comments notable as Wagner/Russian military tensions rise and inside Russia takes notice
Wrap up
Jonathan notes the significance of Prigozhin's statement and the importance of monitoring what he says going forward. He believes Prigozhin may soon face an ICC arrest warrant for his actions. Jonathan wraps up, promising a two-day frontline update next and thanking his community for their support and patience.
