"These FPV drones are being particularly useful for the Ukrainians at the moment, and we have seen literally hundreds of these stacked up... they're now the new snipers, if you like."
Hello Team!
Jonathan starts the video with the latest frontline stats from the General Staff on Russian losses, noting some huge numbers like 18 APCs and 21 artillery systems destroyed. He speculates many of these losses are from localized Ukrainian counter-attacks around Bakhmut.

🪦 DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
- These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
- These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
Overnight News
- 18 Shahed drones, 6 recon drones, 1 Lancet kamikaze drone, and 3 cruise missiles were shot down over Ukraine
- S-300s were used against Kharkiv, possibly targeting a tank factory
- FPV drone footage shows strikes on a Russian intelligence complex in Zaporizhzhia and logistics vehicles
- Jonathan notes the effectiveness of these FPV drones for the Ukrainians, calling them the "new snipers"
Bakhmut Update
Ukraine continues making tactical gains north and south of Bakhmut, unblocking roads and pushing Russians back. However, the situation in the city center remains difficult. There are unconfirmed reports of high-ranking Russian officers being killed or wounded in Klishchiivka.

Russian Aircraft Losses
Russia had its worst day in the air in a long time, losing 2 Mi-8 electronic warfare helicopters, an Su-34, and an Su-25 within Russia. This is in addition to a helicopter shot down near Dzhankoy, Crimea the day before. Theories range from them being hit by Russian air defenses to Ukrainian Manpads, but Jonathan believes the missile trajectories suggest air defenses or air-to-air missiles.

Storm Shadow Missile Strike
Remnants suggest the long-range missile that struck Luhansk was a British Storm Shadow, which had only been announced the day before. Decoy missile parts were also found, which are used to attract air defenses before the main missile hits.

Attacks in Western Ukraine
- A fuel depot was likely hit in Khmelnytskyi, with large fires and explosions
- Ternopil was struck twice on Eurovision night, in what appears to be a symbolic attack as the Ukrainian band Tvorchi is from there. Two warehouses were hit and vehicles damaged, but thankfully no deaths.
Military Aid & Geopolitics
- Zelensky visited Germany after trips to Italy and the Vatican. Germany announced a major new aid package including tanks, fighting vehicles, air defenses and more. Jonathan gives Germany credit for becoming one of Ukraine's biggest military supporters.
- He also breaks down military aid spending as a percentage of GDP for different countries, noting that while the US gives the most in absolute terms, many smaller countries give more relative to their economy size.
- In concerning news, Belarus' Lukashenko was hospitalized after returning from Moscow, sparking speculation.
- Twitter/Elon Musk agreed to censor opposition figures at the Turkish government's request ahead of their election, contradicting prior free speech claims.
- The G7 and EU plan to ban Russian gas imports on routes where Moscow previously cut off supply to prevent future energy crises.
