"This war seems to be only going one way, given that it appears that Russia are now doing their offensives - this is wow their offensives are happening now what are they doing how they were they succeeding oh they're not really okay so yeah it's looking really problematic for for the Russians"
Hello Team!
Jonathan introduces this as an extra video providing additional nuggets and tidbits of information to give a greater understanding of the war in Ukraine. He will cover some leftover topics from the previous day.

Complaints from Russian Mobilized Troops
- A video shows mobilized Russian troops from Kaliningrad, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions complaining about intimidation from their command and poor equipment, including weapons from the 1940s
- They are asking Putin to pay attention to the lack of strategy, tactics, fire support, armored vehicles, etc. and the use of mobilized troops unprepared for assault tasks
- Jonathan notes this is a damning indictment of the state of affairs in the Russian armed forces, endemic across many places, not just isolated incidents
Russia Running Out of Equipment
- Russia is getting out old equipment like 50-60 year old APCs, putting naval turrets on them, and dusting off old T-62 tanks
- They seem to be in trouble and exhausted by Bakhmut, expending troops in a way that will limit future offensives
- Meanwhile, Ukraine is fixing Russian forces in place while training tens of thousands on new Western equipment like tanks, IFVs, APCs, self-propelled howitzers, etc.
- Jonathan can only see this going one way as Russia doesn't appear to have any game-changing answers to counter all the Western equipment Ukraine is set to employ
Lancet Drone Threat to Ukraine
- The Russian Lancet kamikaze drone is still a significant problem for Ukraine
- At least 100 successful hits by these drones on Ukrainian targets have been recorded
- They are difficult to detect in advance and jam in the final stage as they use an inertial guidance system
- Farmers are still having to work lands bordering mined areas despite the risks
Demining Efforts and Challenges in Ukraine
- Demining teams from the government and international organizations like Halo Trust are working to clear mines but the scale of the problem is overwhelming
- Even areas only briefly occupied by Russia for a couple weeks are still being demined a year later
- Deminers have been killed in the process due to Russian forces burying multiple mines
- Clearing land is a slow process, with only 8-12 square meters cleared per person per day
- Over 50 Ukrainian deminers have been killed since the start of the full-scale invasion
- Foreign governments are providing funding, equipment and training to support demining efforts
- The Ukrainian government estimates it could take 10 years to completely clear the country of mines and UXO after the war ends
Importance of Engineering Vehicles and Bridges
- Armored engineering vehicles for tasks like bridge-laying will be very important for Ukrainian counter-offensives
- The heavier NATO tanks Ukraine is receiving will require substantial bridge-making to cross obstacles
- It's unclear if Russia or Ukraine have enough of these critical engineering support vehicles
Wrap up
Jonathan shows a few final clips illustrating the poor and varied equipment of Russian POWs and an example of a bridge-laying vehicle in action, highlighting the importance of engineering vehicles that isn't always seen compared to footage of tanks being destroyed.
