"I think in this area we are close to seeing a breakthrough. I think Vrbovy is going to be really important. If Ukraine can flood Vrbovy or somewhere around here, maybe even Novopropovka, maybe even Kapani area, I think it's not inconceivable that there's a breakthrough that can happen in the next two months."
Hello Team!
Jonathan provides an overview of the frontline changes in the last 24 hours using a map with a legend. The video will focus on the northeastern sector from Kupyansk to Kreminna, the Bakhmut area, Avdiivka, and the Zaporizhzhia front.

📍 FRONT-LINE UPDATE -🗺️ MAP LEGEND
Northeastern Front (Kupyansk to Kreminna)
- No significant changes from Kupyansk to Svatove
- Disagreement between mappers Suriat Maps and Andrew Perpetua on the location of the Russian frontline northeast of Novoselivske, with a 2km difference
- Suriat Maps made modifications based on video footage, not necessarily Ukrainian gains
Bakhmut Area
- Russian gains claimed by Deep State map around Orikove and Vasylivka north of Bakhmut, a challenging area of lower ground/basins
- South of Bakhmut, focus on clearing Russian lines back to the railway line near Klishchiivka
- Ukrainians pushed Russians back east and northeast of Klishchiivka according to Suriat Maps
- Significant Ukrainian gains along the railway line, a key defensive position for Russians with dugouts and tunnels
- Marshy terrain east of the railway line with limited crossing points is a challenge for Ukrainians
- Ukraine is cutting off Russian logistics routes in the Bakhmut direction, reaching the Bakhmut-Horlivka highway within mortar and drone range
- Continued Ukrainian advances put pressure on Russian positions along the railway line
Avdiivka Area
- Suriat Maps shows Ukrainian gains northwest of Opytne in the fields, but may be more of a map correction than new gains
- Russian shelling indicates Ukrainian presence in the northern outskirts of Vodyane
Zaporizhzhia Front (Robotyne Sector)
- Claims of up to 10,000 Ukrainian troops moving from Velyka Novosilka and Vuhledar to the Robotyne sector, in line with NATO/US advice to focus on a single point of attack
- Debate over whether Ukrainian advances constitute a "breakthrough" or not
- Ukrainian forces entered Novoprokopivka and made gains west of Verbove, cutting off a Russian logistics road
- Russians using aviation and heavy armor to prevent further Ukrainian advances
- Threat of encirclement for Russian 56th and 7th Airborne Infantry Regiments if Ukrainians advance further
- Russians using FPV drones effectively against Ukrainian infantry assault groups
- Continued Ukrainian progress and pressure on Russian defensive lines, but a full breakthrough is not yet confirmed
Crimea
Pro-Russian source Rybar claimed a failed Ukrainian special forces boat raid on Cape Tarkhankut in Crimea on the night of Sept 22-23, spotted and repelled by a Russian border guard. Jonathan believes such raids are likely occurring but will be more challenging for Ukraine now that Russia is alert to the threat after the Maiaky raid.
