"It's tough for the Ukrainians. They are repelling the Russians, as they say, but they pushed past the demarcation line so originally where the Russians kind of were so there could be some gains for the Russians here the Ukrainians claiming to take their own losses as well as exacting some losses on the Russians too in the Serebiansky forest"
Hello Team!
Jonathan provides an overview of the frontline activity, noting there has been a lot happening in various areas including:
- Zaporizhzhia front
- Donetsk eastern front
- Potential Russian offensives gearing up in the Kupyansk and Kreminna areas
He questions the Russian intentions behind these offensives, suggesting it is likely a diversionary tactic to redirect Ukrainian resources and personnel away from their current focus areas.

📍 FRONT-LINE UPDATE -🗺️ MAP LEGEND
Kupyansk Area
- The Russian defensive line has pushed out towards Kupyansk, which is a concern
- The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports claims of:
- Russian forces stopping Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups near Synkivka, Kotlyarivka and Novoselivka
- Russian forces pushing Ukrainian forces out of Synkivka and establishing a foothold on the right bank of the Oskil River
- A Russian military blogger claimed Russian forces are outmaneuvering Ukrainian forces west of the R66/P66 Svatove-Kreminna highway
Kreminna Area
- A Ukrainian squadron leader reports a difficult situation in the Torske direction, with the Russians pushing through the old demarcation line using tanks, artillery, aviation, and infantry. Ukrainian forces managed to fend off the assaults but took losses.
- The ISW reports:
- Ukrainian forces conducting partially successful offensive operations in the Bilohorivka-Serebryanka direction and establishing themselves on newly captured front lines
- Russian forces conducting unsuccessful operations towards Dibrova, Serebryanka and Hryhorivka
- Geolocated combat footage showing Ukrainian forces repelling a Russian armored assault east of Spirne
- Russian military bloggers claim:
- Increased fighting intensity, with Russian VDV paratroopers occupying several Ukrainian strongholds in the Serebryansk forest
- Elements of the Russian Central Group of Forces conducting assault operations and repelling Ukrainian counterattacks near Kreminna
- Destruction of two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups advancing towards Torske
- Russian artillery repelling a Ukrainian armored attack near Dibrova
Bakhmut Area
- Activity in Rozdolivka and Bakhmutske has apparently decreased in intensity according to Russian military bloggers
- The Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister reports ongoing activity in Bakhmut but at a reduced level compared to previously
- Russian paratroopers are reportedly around Klishchiivka
- There have been more strikes on self-propelled mortars, with Andrew Perpetua counting 8-9 taken out in Klishchiivka alone soon after the Ukrainian counter-offensive began
Avdiivka and Marinka Areas
Avdiivka:
- Limited activity reported, mostly unsuccessful attacks by Russian forces in the usual places
Marinka:
- Geolocated footage indicates Ukrainian forces operating in northern parts of Marinka that Russian sources previously claimed to control
- A Russian military blogger claimed Russian forces conducted assaults near Pobjeda and made unspecified gains
- Ukrainian forces appear to be counter-attacking both north and south of Marinka
- North: Between Krasnohorivka and Marinka where a railway line runs. The 79th Brigade reportedly moved up and captured a Russian position southeast of Krasnohorivka.
- South: Ukrainians assaulting Russian positions on the edge of an area with a piggery and agricultural warehouses previously taken by Russia
Velyka Novosilka Area
- Yevgeny Prigozhin (head of Wagner PMC) claimed Ukrainian control of the northern part of Rivnopil, Urozhaine, and Pyatykhatky, but this is unconfirmed. He also made damning claims about high Russian casualty rates (50-60% in some units) and supply/ammunition shortages.
- Ukrainian forces have reportedly:
- Advanced 8km west of Makarivka and liberated the settlement
- Made gains in the fields between Rivnopil and Makarivka
- Pushed the Russians out of the area between Rivnopil and Makarivka (geolocated evidence from Andrew Perpetua)
- If Prigozhin's claim about Ukrainian control of northern Robotyne is true, it means they have breached a key Russian defensive trench line in the area
- Fighting continues around Pyatykhatky with conflicting claims of control. Geolocated footage confirms continued Ukrainian control, while some Russian sources claim to have recaptured it or that neither side controls it. Heavy Russian losses reported in their attempts to retake the settlement.
