"Most of these guys are mobilized and convicts, right? So they're not, you know, they're not career army people. And they haven't really received that quality training either. So it's all a bit of a mess."

🪦 DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSSES DATA
- These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
- These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
Ukrainian figures for Russian losses
- 690 Russian personnel killed yesterday, slightly higher than recent daily average
- 2 tanks, 8 APCs, 2 artillery systems, 1 MLRS, 2 aircraft, 4 helicopters lost
- 3 drones, 8 vehicles/fuel tanks, 1 special equipment lost
- Jonathan notes the 4 helicopters lost is significant. He had previously heard 2 Su-25 attack aircraft, 1 Ka-52 attack helicopter, 2 guided X-59 rockets and 1 UAV drone were downed.
Russian boat sunk near Kherson
Ukrainian forces hit and sank a Russian reconnaissance/sabotage boat on the Dnipro River near Potemkin Island yesterday. The island near Kherson is contested, with reports of both Russian and Ukrainian flags seen flying there recently.

Estonia plans Gulf of Finland restrictions

- Finland would also need a similar zone to fully block the gulf
Leopard 2 tank news
- Unconfirmed: Germany may require countries re-exporting Leopard 2s to Ukraine to buy new ones from Germany
- 12 countries have agreed to supply Ukraine with 100 Leopard 2s pending German approval
- This is a significant number of tanks that could support a Ukrainian counter-offensive
- Germany claimed no one had officially asked for export approval previously
Discipline issues in Russian forces
- New overall commander Gerasimov is shaking things up, demoting Surovikin
- Gerasimov banned mobile phones, required haircuts and shaving which is causing backlash

- Dom Nichols argues good tactics/training should come before strict discipline, not the reverse
- Most Russian soldiers are mobilized or convicts, not well-trained career military
