- All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
- Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
- Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
- Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
- Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
- All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
- Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.
Ukrainian General Staff Figures
The Ukrainian General Staff reports 320 Russian personnel losses, a drop from previous days. Tank and armoured vehicle losses are also lower. Despite claims of a major Ukrainian push in the Robotyne sector, there is little evidence so far. 38 Russian artillery systems were reportedly destroyed.

Visually Confirmed Losses
Oryx reports 11 Russian vehicles and 5 Ukrainian vehicles destroyed, including the first German Marder IFV. The Ukrainian losses include 2 Mi-8 helicopters from March 2022 and a MiG-29 fighter.

Fires and Explosions in Russia
- Nikopol heavily shelled by Russian artillery
- Gas pipeline explosion in Poltava region, Ukraine
- Fires at a bank branch in Krasnodar and a chemical plant in Ishimbai, Russia
- Molotov cocktail thrown at a recruiting office in St. Petersburg
Russian Airstrikes
Russia has significantly increased airstrikes along the front lines, dropping large FAB-500 bombs. This poses a huge challenge for Ukraine. Strikes are occurring over the Dnipro River and from within Russia.

Ukrainian Strikes on Russia
Ukraine conducted drone reconnaissance and loitering munition attacks on Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions in Russia. A fire was reported near Moscow, but some tweets about an airfield strike were deleted, suggesting misinformation.

Russia Building Railway to Donbas
Russia has started constructing a direct railway from Taganrog and Rostov to Mariupol, Volnovakha and Donetsk. This could reduce their logistical dependence on the vulnerable Crimean Bridge. If successful, it would be a significant development.

EU Report on Disinformation
An EU report found that while Facebook, Google and TikTok are effectively fighting disinformation, Twitter (now called X) under Elon Musk has become the largest platform for spreading Russian propaganda. Twitter no longer adheres to the EU's voluntary code of conduct on fact-checking.
