Jonathan starts by sharing an overview of the frontlines from pro-Russian mapper Syriac Maps, who claims the Ukrainian counteroffensive has only recaptured approximately 212 square kilometres in the first month at a high cost. Kupyansk to Svatove
- Russians made gains yesterday in the Novosilka area according to both mappers, though pro-Ukrainian mapper Andrew Perpetua has reassessed it as a larger grey zone
- Russians unsuccessfully attempted to cross the Zherebets River between Svatove and Kreminna and attacked towards Chervonopopivka
- Limited Ukrainian attacks were repelled by Russians near Karmazynivka, Kuzmivka, and Berestove
Bakhmut Area
- Fierce fighting continues south of Bakhmut near Klishchiivka with the Ukrainians making some gains southwest of the town
- Ukrainians have made gains in Kurdyumivka, east across the Donets-Donbas canal, a significant development
- Russian airborne brigade was forced to chaotically retreat from Klishchiivka after heavy losses, with some survivors refusing orders to return to combat
- Ukrainians are pressuring the Russians on the western outskirts of Bakhmut and from the south, likely aiming for an operational encirclement of the city
- Deputy Defence Minister Maliar stated Russians in Bakhmut are effectively trapped and being hammered by Ukrainian artillery
Avdiivka and Donetsk
- Russians launched limited ground attacks near Avdiivka which were characterised as "meat grinder assaults" by a prominent Russian military blogger
- Ukrainians made small gains southwest of Avdiivka past the 2014 lines but were pushed back slightly by the Russians
- Ukrainians continue to attack south of Velyka Novosilka, making advances towards Pryiutne which is now contested
Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Fronts
- Ukrainians achieved partial success advancing in the Melitopol direction while destroying significant amounts of Russian equipment, weapons and ammo depots
- Conflicting claims about Ukrainian withdrawals and gains southwest of Orikhiv
- Russian sources claim Ukrainians broke through defensive lines between Robotyne and Verbove, though this is unverified
- Ukrainians landed sabotage and recon groups near Antonivsky Bridge with Russians attempting to destroy them
Breaking News
Explosions reported in Kerch, Crimea and Rostov-on-Don with claims a cruise missile was shot down over Crimea. Traffic has been stopped on the Kerch bridge in both directions.
