Jonathan's analysis of the use of frozen Russian assets
🎦 01:20-02:30⏩
Jonathan analyses the potential options for using the frozen Russian assets. Option 1 - Give the entire value of the assets, around €330bn, to Ukraine. Option 2 - Use the profits from the assets to underwrite loans. Jonathan notes the benefit of the second option is that it can continue indefinitely. He acknowledges that both options have merit but that Ukraine needs the funds now.

🎦 02:30-03:19⏩
Jonathan cites a recent poll by US Republican Don Bacon which shows that 55% of Americans support the US sending military aid to Ukraine. Only 35% are opposed. Jonathan observes that despite the rhetoric from MAGA politicians, this is not representative of what the US public want.

🎦 03:19-04:09⏩
Norway will provide €55m to Ukraine to help strengthen its navy and deter Russian naval forces in the Black Sea. This is according to Norway's Prime Minister. Jonathan speculates that this could relate to shoring up air defences in the Black Sea to protect Ukraine's grain export infrastructure or for naval vessels.

Discussion about a potential future wave of Ukrainian strikes
🎦 04:35-05:50⏩
Jonathan refers to a question raised in a recent livestream with Jonathan Fink (Silicon Curtain) and Phil Itner (On The Edge) about when we might expect a wave of Ukrainian strikes on Russia. Jonathan acknowledges that there has been speculation about increased production of Palantir missiles, Peklo missiles and Neptune missiles. There have been relatively few strikes in Russia recently - an ammo depot in Makiivka, an oil depot and a few others. Jonathan suspects that the new units are being used but sparingly.

Ukraine develops new FPV drone detector: the TSMTR
🎦 05:50-07:35⏩
Jonathan reports that the Ukrainian military has developed a new FPV drone detector - the TSMTR. The device can automatically turn on an electronic warfare jammer as soon as the drone is detected. Jonathan explains that this is significant as it will help to conserve battery life and reduce the electronic signature of the jammer. The more powerful the jammer the quicker the battery is drained.

Effectiveness of FPV drones
🎦 07:35-08:21⏩
Jonathan reports that according to Magyar the effectiveness of FPV (first-person view) drones ranges from 20-40% for both the Ukrainians and the Russians. This is due to a variety of factors - electronics malfunction, munitions failing to detonate, and enemy electronic warfare. Jonathan observes that the interception rate is quite variable.

Putin warns the West over deployment of medium range missiles
🎦 08:21-09:13⏩
Jonathan discusses Putin's latest warning to the West over the potential deployment of medium range missiles to Ukraine. Putin claims that this will result in Russia abandoning its self-imposed restrictions in this area. Jonathan believes that this is classic Putin and that the West has imposed these 'red lines' on itself. Putin has not laid out any red lines.

Putin's plans to ramp up production of the Ureshnik Missile
🎦 09:37-10:29⏩
Putin has announced plans to increase production of the Ureshnik missile, including hypersonic variants. He also stated that he will continue training and keep non-strategic nuclear forces on alert. Putin also claimed that thousands of drones are being delivered to Russian forces daily. Jonathan notes the contradiction in Putin's earlier statements (November 28th) in which he stated that serial production of the Ureshnik missile complex had already started. It's December 16th and this has not happened yet. Jonathan is concerned about the claim that Russia is taking delivery of thousands of drones per day.

Putin: 1,000 Russians joining the military daily
🎦 10:29-11:20⏩
Jonathan analyses Putin's claim that more than 1,000 Russians are joining the military every day. Jonathan calculates that to be 30,000 per month which would support earlier Western intelligence estimates. This indicates that Russia is suffering huge losses on the battlefield.

Russians joining the military 'voluntarily'
🎦 11:20-12:10⏩
Jonathan discusses a further claim from Putin that 1,000 Russians are going to the front 'voluntarily' every day. Whilst this may be true to a point - financial incentives being offered mean that it's not entirely true. Jonathan doubts that Russia is able to recruit the same numbers it once was. Jonathan acknowledges that both sides are struggling to maintain troop numbers.
